They describe the true spiritual perspective of Jesus, which emphasised the knowledge of God-awareness within (akin to the Eastern spiritual philosophies), rather than the Romanised-Christianity derived from the politically motivated Emperor Constantine (who persecuted/killed the Gnostic mystics as their belief didnt corroborate his political ambitions).
