rbhArts's video: Windowing an art commission by David Lemm for the Royal Brompton Diagnostic Centre

‘Windowing’, a film by Elam Forrester about a new commission by David Lemm, 2022 Windowing is the result of a residency project to mark the opening of the Royal Brompton Diagnostic Centre. The design features on the entrance glass wall and cubicle curtains throughout the centre. Visually inspired by wave forms and scientific diagrams, the linear motifs are a response to imagery produced during scanning sessions and investigations into the Brompton area, including bark from trees and map fragments. The grid composition is informed by pixel matrices and glances through garden railings. The resulting collection offers glimpses into a larger potential narrative and the work is intended to be looked at and through. This will enable calming contemplation and imaginative wonderings, whilst encouraging further enquiry into the local landscape and possibilities to be found in nature. ‘Windowing’ has been commissioned by rb&hArts, the arts team at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.
