College Students have the opportunity to: Record single in a top studio be part of the album produced to aid the project Perform at a prime venue alongside acclaimed music artists Have their song made in to a music video by body artist Emma Fay Join the Yellow Book Winners at the House of Lords Prize Presentation Artist/Band promoted and published in The Yellow Book Last time Mark Morriss of 90's chart topping band The Bluetones, Lucy Ward BBC Radio 2 Folk award winning artist, and Mental Health band refuge all developed poems in to lyrics and then a song. We ask students take a designated poem, and in their composition lessons create their own song from it, record it and submit it to the College Music Department. We provide a booklet for to explain. A band/solo artist/duo will then be selected by a college panel to represent the college at the Bands Showcase. The bands showcase works as an enrichment day with industry professionals. Finally the winning act is chosen by these professionals to become the next rethinkyourmind artist. The runners up all receive studio recording time at a professional studio. The winner will receive the opportunities at the top of the page & a winning poem from the rethinkyourmind project 2018/19 and then asked to write and perform a music single, developing the selected poem into the lyrics.
