@B5 S4 Crank but no start? and odd sound?

EDIT: Problem solved! Turned out to the the Engine Speed Sensor. EuroCode got me all sorted out. My car randomly shuts off over time, sitting idle at a stoplight, going 60 on the freeway, while cooling down in my driveway... I assume it's when it's overheated. This problem has persisted since last Monday... I believe it to the fuel pump, but I hear this sound after I crank, I wanted to ask the forums if you all knew what the sound was and if you could throw me in the right direction. The sound I'm curious about is after each crank attempt, the duration periods are: 0:06 to 0:08 0:11 to 0:12 0:17 to 0:19 0:36 to 0:38 0:40 to 0:42
