I have visited here several times over the years and can remember when it was a functional school with the laughs and voices of the children in the playground...The magnificent school bell housed in lead in the roof--a beautiful feature of the building created in 1903---so rudely demolished including setting fire to it---a little jewel beside the River Parrett disappeared almost erased---but soon no doubt a monster warehouse will land on this site...I have been inside the buikding a few years ago when access was still possible and where people will rescuing some of the artefacts of the school like large frames photos, artwork, cutlery pottery---there was a xmas tree still decorated but looked like it had been trampled on---I rescued one of the tree ornament --a tin soldier and I still have it--I created videos and took many photos during that visit and all visits since---soon to be shared for those who appreciate the school---one thing I also remember is a load of antiques housed in the hall possibly from a mansion --that room was still sealed but on the next visit it had been vandalized and loads of stuff smashed to pieces.It was sad really to see a part of history just dismissed in this way.. I am not sure and will need to check if my 2 elder sisters ever attended the school during WWII when they were evacuees from London and staying in a cottage close by during part of the war while our parent were engaged in the war effort--my Dad foirstly an air raid warden on London but then called up to serve in the 8th Army in Africa and my Mum to work in a bomb factory........Anyway Part IV to follow asap
