Here we go again another great visit to the Iron Age Hillfort at Dolebury and Rowberrow Warren--a grand fort with magnificent views from the ramparts.This fort still has many ancient features evident like the ramparts and the gate entrances.Located high up on the Mendip Hills of Somerset it would have provided good defense against other tribes from other Somerset areas but may be they were friends at times and visited one another--early village life.Tribes of Wessex would have joined together in defense against possible invasions from more distant threats and from tribes further afield...Part II to follow where I wander about the top of the fort before navigating my way around a large herd of cattle when I make my descent on the east side of the Hill Fort..
