January 23rd 2021--its another Covid-19 National Lock Down---its a sunny day with blue skies and white fluffy clouds---some beach restrictions--no wind surfers allowed at the moment but there are plenty of walkers , whole families walking and enjoying the sunshine, dog walkers--no ice cream stalls or chips allowed-----may be a coffee shed at Uphill marina---A few sea bathers take to the muddy waters ---its quite cold today but they gently wade out as the waves approach them---some have all the gear on--full wet suits and hat---others just a costume---mainly women--one with a furry winter hat on----Further out a lone yachtsman tacks to the wind---he moors and anchors his sloop at Uphill on a tributary of the River Axe---I have seen him many times over this past year--a solitary sail cruising the Bristol Channel------plenty of time these days to sail---self isolating on the waves of the Bristol Channel and then returning on the tide to anchor via the hidden underwater River Axe passing Brean Down---------several rivers meet on the Channel----------Yes a crisp day for a local walk heading towards the Uphill Marina, the old St Nicholas Church and the Beacon on the hill------many people walking along the narrow pathway --I divert to a more remote track to avoid the herds.......
