Near Jaun in western Switzerland, we hiked the loop trail that goes around the Gastlosen mountains. We started at the funicular station, and headed east, then went up through the forest before we came out in the open area around the Grat station. This is the east side of the mountain range - the hike crosses over (at a "low" point) and goes around the west side as well. From the east side you can see many far away mountains and glaciers to the south and southeast.
