Monday, June 11, 2018 Resources, Vulnerability and Resilience: Producing Insecurity and Precarity at two ends of the Global System Dr. Michael Watts Using case studies drawn from two very different parts of the world - Nigeria and the Gulf of Mexico - my lecture will explore the political ecology and political economy of resource frontiers, in this case the oil and gas industry. My purpose is to explore the notion of the production of insecurity and risk, and what this might mean for the current (and widespread) forms of resilience thinking and building resilient socio-ecological systems.
