In Scream 2, the killer is Billy Loomis's mother. She justifies her and her son's actions by blaming her abandoning him on Sidney's mother's affair with her husband. In Scream 3, the killer is Sidney's half brother Roman. He reveals that him and Sidney's mother abandoned him, so he told Billy about the affair, setting the chain of events into action.
