@An Evening of Bug Music @HiLo Matt Bua & David Rothenberg
An Evening of Bug Music and other Animals of Improv, was a unique performance presented on Nov.4, 2017 @HiLo Catskill NY. "A sonic celebration of those life giving and entropic insects" Matt Bua and David Rothenberg created and composed insect related sounds and music on both horn instruments and created electronic instruments. Second Live feed was supplied by Jared Handelsman. Accompanied by light projections and visuals, it become an hour and a half of mesmerizing images and sounds. David Rothenberg is a professor of philosophy and music at the NJ Institute of Technology, with a special interest in animals sounds as music. He is also a jazz musician whose books and recordings reflect a longtime interest in understanding other species such as singing insects by making music with them. Matt Bua is a local artist, writer and researcher who, in his sound making career, has always aimed to make music worthy of those insect creatures that have the human race outweighed 300 lbs to one. For this performance he will be pulling out remnants from his suitcase Orchestra to accompany the ultra-buggy projection.
