First of a bunch of ads taken from a recording of Phoenix Festival highlights on 12/12/96. We have: 0:00 Viz "Top Tips" video ad, featuring Reeves & Mortimer. 0:21 Amarula Cream liquer. "Taste The Wild Fruit of Africa". Hmmm. 0:52 Solpaflex tablets. "Makes You Feel Human Again", although the CGI human here looks more like something out of the X-Files. Odd. 1:22 Beechams All-In-One. 1:32 Sony Super Trinitron Wide. Really good cinematic-looking ad with the viewer literally transported into the movie. Who needs HD?! (Well, me actually.) 2:02 Martini Sparkling Wines. "Capture The Moment." Bland. 2:12 Frank Skinner "Live at the London Palladium" ad. (I've never seen him live, is he really as shocking as this ad wants us to think?) 2:23 Citroen Saxo ad with Bryan Brown. Did they really get that tiger into the car with him? 2:54 "The Dogs" compilation album. (Seems like they couldn't say "bollocks", but I can. Mwahaha!) Actually this looks like a pretty good compilation of the kind of Britpop I was listening to back then. Vic Reeves is back for the voiceover (or is it Bob Mortimer?) 3:24 Glen Ord Single Malt. Basically a bottle shot, but ten secs doesn't give you many options.
