Sponsored videos have come under fire recently and especially celebrities that use Instagram, the problem with a lot of celebrities is that the FTC and OFT are cracking down on them, using the basic hashtag of and just don't cut it anymore. So, to protect yourself here are some basic rules to follow when doing videos that have brands in them or brands have sent you some products to promote. Full disclosure is key, when promoting products, let people know what people have sent to you, who the company is and tell the viewers upfront about your agreement with them, not mentioning details of payment etc but let the people know what you can. Casey Neistat recently came under fire for his First Days Of Summer videos where it was a subtle advert for Samsung, if you saw the video Jesse Wellens did showing behind the scenes you'd see that a full team of Samsung employees were supporting it, even though it said , they used thousands of pounds worth of equipment to make and produce the video. Some say it was underhand, some don't, either way, I doubt it'll bother him or his subs levels anytime soon. Anyway, being open and honest about your dealings with brands and companies is the best policy as if you mislead your subscribers and fans, they'll come down on you like a tonne of bricks and so will the FTC and OFT.
