slowhaunt's video: BOUNCING A HORROR SCORE TO CASSETTE TAPE Magic

@BOUNCING A HORROR SCORE TO CASSETTE TAPE #Magic
https://linktr.ee/slowhaunt For this video I wanted to try out an experiment using my Sony TC-WE475 consumer tape deck and Tascam DR-40 field recorder. Lately I’ve noticed that there’s some type of special thing that happens when you record a synthesized, cold, or digital sound from a speaker into some recording device. The room, the space between the sound source and the recorder, and the air moving around all gives it so much more of an organic feel. So I set up my Tascam recorder on the other side of my studio, played some parts on the novation peak straight out of my monitors and captured the sounds from across the room. I then imported the files into Ableton for arrangement. Next, I (painstakingly) bounced all 6 individual tracks onto the tape deck and recorded them back into Ableton and did another mix. Lastly, I bounced the entire mix to tape and then back into Ableton. I actually am loving the result that I got from this. Most people will probably bash how much noise there is in it but I find it comforting. It has a type of glue and space to it that I probably couldn’t have achieved just going straight into the box. Equipment used for this video: -Sony A7iii -SLR Magic 35mm 1.2 Cine -Tascam DR-40 -Sony TC-WE475 -Behringer Xenyx 1204usb -Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 -Novation Peak 8 Voice Synthesizer -Ableton Live -FCPX 10.4
