Located a little over two hours from Las Vegas, Zabriskie Point Badlands viewpoint is on the California side, in Death Valley. It was extremely hot when I visited, over 40°C (105°F). The Zabriskie Point parking lot is easily accessible from highway 190. The walk up to the top is not very steep and takes less than ten minutes. The views from Zabriskie Point are stunning. The erosional landscape is truly alien-like and is composed of sediments from five million years ago. You need a National Parks Annual Pass or pay the entrance fee to access Zabriskie Point.
