@Great Central Railway: Winter Gala 250114
A football manager would describe Saturday as a day of two halves. Early morning cloud quickly clearing to sunshine followed by a vicious thunderstorm with hail and heavy rain in the afternoon - thank heaven for bridges. In addition the wind steadily increased its power through the day to make filming difficult. The two guest engines for this Gala were Standard 9F 92214 from the NYMR and GWR tank 5643 owned by the Furness Railway Trust. The home fleet were led by Britannia Class 70013 Oliver Cromwell and SR King Arthur 777 Sir Lamiel together with Standard 2 78019, Ivatt 2-6-0 46521, LMS 8F 8624, LNER N2 1744, and LMS Jinty 47406. 5643 with the goods at Charnwood Water and Epinal Way Bridge; 70013 at Loughborough and approaching and leaving Quorn; Standard 2 78019 leaving Quorn and double-heading with 46521 at Woodthorpe; 46521 at Quorn with the goods. 8624 at Woodthorpe and Quorn with the minerals; 8624 at Woodthorpe (with lightning flash); 777 at Woodthorpe in the rain, leaving Quorn and at Woodthorpe with the TPO; 1744 at Quorn; 47406 at Quorn with the goods and approaching Quorn with the local; 92214 at Epinal Way Bridge with the minerals, earlier in the day with a passenger train and at Quorn with the TPO; 5643 leaving Quorn after the rainstorm.
