What is happening in Venezuela is an illigitimate attempt to overthrow the democratically elected president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. The goal of the coup attempt is to gain western corporate control over Venezuela's vast amounts of oil resources. Venezuela is the country with the largest proven oil reserves in the world. The unfolding coup plot is supported by most western governments, including the United States. The CIA has already attempted a coup d'etat in Venezuela in 2002, shortly after the Venezuelan oil industry was nationalized by then newly elected president Hugo Chavez. In April 2002 the coup d'etat unfolded, using cleverly orchestrated media lies and propaganda, the bribing of high ranking Venezuelan military officials, the staging of huge protest marches and even the use of false-flag attacks on innocent people, which were blamed on the government of Hugo Chavez. After this unfolded, a military coup was staged and Hugo Chavez was kidnapped, flown out of the country and imprisoned. Over-night a new pro-US government was installed which immediately reversed the nationalization of the Venezuelan oil and threw out the country's constitution. However, the 2002 plot failed miserably when the next day the Venezuelan people took to the streets en-masse, surrounded the presidential palace in Venezuela's capital Caracas and demanded for their elected president to be returned. The Venezuelan presidential guard proved their loyalty to Chavez when they eventually took matters into their own hands and stormed the presidential palace and detained the illigitimate coup plotters and members of the newly installed puppet government, forcing them to have Hugo Chavez returned. After the death of Hugo Chavez, his party companion Nicolás Maduro was elected by a majority vote in 2013 and re-elected in 2018. Now, the US and its allies are attempting to overthrow the Venezuelan government once again. Juan Guaido, a pro-US politician, has declared himself to be the new president of Venezuela in January 2019. However, the Venezuelan constitution states that the government-elect can only resign before the end of its term, through a majority vote in a national referendum. The main goal of the 2019 coup plotters is installing a pro-US puppet government in Venezuela and bring power over the oil industry in the country back into western corporate hands.
