@8 Skype Tips For Host Family Interviewing Au Pairs In 2020
Hey whats up, HOST FAMILY! Welcome to the FIRST VIDEO on YouTube about the best tips for host-families and the dreaded Skype call! Today I am going to give you the BEST 8 tips for your Skype interviews with potential au pairs. Lets go! 😃 The Skype call is super important because you will be able to see the au pair and be able to engage with each other in real time. You can get a feel for each other and learn more about one another to see if this would be a good match. My Tips: 1- Make the au pair feel comfortable- you're both nervous, they're more nervous than you are so be friendly and smile. 2- Make your first Skype interview be just you the host parents and the au pair- if the call is going well then bring the kids in but otherwise the kids should be kept for the 2nd and 3rd Skype calls. It is very important to see how the au pair enrages with your kids and how they react to them but its not necessary to have them on the first call because you don't know if this au pair is going to make it to the next stage of the process or not. 3- Read through the potential au pairs profile for some specific questions. Be prepared with questions for the au pair. 4- Be prepared for questions the au pair might ask you. 5- Be honest during the interview. Don't say one thing to the au pair and then when they get there then its not the case. Make sure the au pair knows what they're getting themself into. 6- Remember the different time-zones so set the time for your Skype call for a time it suits you both. Skype calls can be anywhere from 30 mins to 60 minutes. Call from home so that the au pair can see a little bit of where you live. Show the au pair's room or send pictures to the au pair. A cool au pair room is a PLUS! 7- Try to get to know the au pair. This isn't just an employee that you're hiring, its a new roommate, a new friend so treat them accordingly. 8- Be patient with the au pair. English may not be their first language so if they aren't making sense then just try to understand or ask them to say it in a different way.
