カジヒデキ [Hideki Kaji] - "You and Me Song (for Kinks)" Mini-Skirt (1997) Shibuya-kei, Indie Pop Hideki Kaji's importance to Japanese guitar pop cannot be overstated, and while he was one of the driving creative forces behind Bridge and played bass in a short-lived indie pop band called Favourite Marine, it was really when he started to record music under his own name that his songwriting skills began to shine. His early solo albums like Mini-Skirt and Tea would blend this neo-acoustic sound with a wide range of influences like much other Shibuya-kei. He also would notably take influence from and collaborate with Swedish indie pop groups like Eggstone, extending the reach of this particularly Japanese style of indie pop to more international audiences.
