Perfect winter/fall family pie, Chocolate Pecan. Follow this how-to video for a quick, easy recipe. Music: "Early in the Morning" - Plants and Animals Shot on the Panasonic GH3, 20mm. Chocolate Pecan Pie Dough: 2.5 cups flour 3/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup + 3 tbsp butter, sliced into small pieces 2.5 tbsp shortening 5 tbsp water 2 tbsp granulated sugar Combine flour, sugar and salt in large bowl. Add butter and lard, then mix until crumbly. Add water slowly while mixing until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and put in fridge for at least 30 minutes before using. Filling: Flour for workspace 2 large eggs 2 tbsp melted butter 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/8 tsp almond extract 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/2 cup dark corn syrup 2 cups pecan halves 4 oz bittersweet baking chocolate, cup into pieces (or chocolate chips) Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In large bowl, whisk eggs, butter, almond and vanilla. Add sugar and mix until smooth. Add corn syrups and mix until settled throughout. Stir in pecans and chocolate. 3. Take previously prepared dough out of fridge and flour and roll out onto clean, flat, well-floured workspace. Fit dough into pie shell. 4. Pour filling into pie shell and bake until set, approximately 1 hour. 5. Cool on rack for 20-30 min before serving.
