‘The Circle’ is an infinite LEGO EV3 Great Ball Contraption (GBC) including an algorithm that is able predict the position of the marble. ‘The Circle’ is placed on top of three actuators. It is controlled with inputs for slope and top point. The inputs might vary over time. In the current set up the top point moves at a speed of 180 degree per second whereas the slope is stable. After start the marble moves over ‘The Circle’. The algorithm calculates the forces, acceleration, velocity and predicts the position of the marble at all times, effectively with around 20 iterations per second. The light sensor detects the marble and the position is updated accordingly. The position is indicated by the pointer (blue) using a PID controller. ‘The Circle’ is programmed with the official LEGO EV3 Software and completely build with LEGO parts, apart from the cables from Mindsensors (www.mindsensors.com), the banner from Scotch (www.scotchbrand.com) and the marble from the Glasi Hergiswil (www.glasi.ch/en/).
