@YES - 5 Percent For Nothing-Long Distance Runaround-The Fish International Super-Collab
YES and Prog fans - enjoy this International Super Collaboration of the first 3 songs on side 2 of Fragile. 7 total participants playing multiple tracks over the 3 tunes. The Fish has 11 bass parts spread out between 4 bass players! The added percussion on The Fish was our tip of the hat to Bill Bruford who played all sorts of bottles and stuff on the original track. My good friend David and his brother Tommy took a similar approach to the percussion tracks and scoured their kitchen cupboards for wine glasses and such for certain "home run" pitches - namely E,G,A,D,B, and a high E. You can hit just one or any combination and it will fit. All Tommy had to do was play some rhythms and have fun! They rounded it out with a shaker, tambourine and some ceramic bongos from Spain. Just add a little reverb and they were off and running. The percussion adds a bit of "body" to the tune. This project didn't get finished without it's share of hurdles I assure you. The idea for this collab began at the end of March and now it's finally finished 5 1/2 months later. The tunes are not very hard to play at all - it's everyone's scheduling that takes so long to work around! and Tommy did a great job holding the rains. Kudos to Shawn for the mounted camera angle on his bass headstock that made a seemingly very simple part very interesting and fun to watch. Your parts on The Fish gave it some really nice "bottom end". Richie - great job finding the awesome keyboard sound patches for Long Distance and 5 Percent! Ron - rock solid as always and kudos for detecting and playing that 3rd harmony in your parts in The Fish. C - excellent as usual with the "Steve Howe" licks - Mr. Precision! Dave - fantastic job with the wah-wah section and transition to the fuzz on The Fish! Dave also gets the credit for coming up with the "deconstruction" idea for The Fish. Brilliant! "The KING" strikes again! Loving that light blue early 1960's Hagstrom bass! Thanks to all of you for great performances all around! Until Next Time...
