Fantine has taken bad subtitles and heavily edited them so now they're a joy to read while watching the film. We non-Hindi speakers owe her a large debt of gratitude. Some idiot company thought it a good idea to not only put their ugly logo in the upper left of the entire movie, but to ruin the songs as well by putting one across the bottom center of them all. I did my best to remove them, but logos such as these can't be removed entirely. Things like this only go to prove the immense greed of Indian media companies. Logos of any kind are a disgrace and show disrespect for India's film heritage. They should all be banned. After Kishore gets kicked out of his village at the behest of the bad guy, Jaggu, and leaves behind his inspiration and love Jabeen Jalil, he makes it to the big city seeking to become a successful singer. He has no luck at all until he is befriended by Padmini and then Ashok Kumar. With their help he becomes famous, and Padmini's dance career is revived, even though she has a serious heart ailment and shouldn't be dancing. Padmini also falls in love with Kishore, but Kishore remains true to his lady love Jabeen. His career is booming, but meanwhile back in the village Jaggu wants to marry Jabeen. She runs away to the city hoping to find Kishore. The plot gets complicated at that point. Vinod Mehra plays a young Kishore. There are lots of songs and lovely Padmini dances, making this a true musical.
