@The Shared Work of MBSR Teachers with Saki Santorelli, Center for MIndfulness (CFM)
"Who and What Am I?: The Shared (and Real) Work of MBSR Teachers and MBSR Participants" www.umassmed.edu/cfm Join Saki Santorelli in an exploration of the Center's inaugural Fall Teaching Institute (FTI). Whether you are an MBSR teacher, teacher in training or a participant in an MBSR course, this 40-minute Webinar will provoke you into wondering more deeply about your self-identity. You'll have an opportunity to inquire and reflect upon who and what you are. Together, we’ll get to look more closely at just how often our beliefs, ideas, and opinions about who and what we are pale in comparison to the radiance we discover when we look more deeply, wonder more widely, and shine the light of mindfulness more directly on our usual views of self. About Saki Santorelli - Saki F. Santorelli, EdD, MA, is a professor of medicine, director of the internationally-acclaimed Stress Reduction Clinic, and executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. As a faculty member in the Department of Medicine, Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, he has worked with thousands of medical patients and has educated and helped mentor generations of practitioners and researchers of mindfulness and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), engaging in more than 30,000 clinical hours of MBSR. About the Center for MIndfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society - Inspiring generations of scientists, clinicians, and educators, for thirty-three years the Center has taken a leadership role in pioneering the integration of mindfulness meditation and other mindfulness-based practices into mainstream medicine through clinical care, rigorous research, academic medical and professional education, and into the larger society through leading edge "crossover" initiatives and outreach to schools and corporations, public institutions and governmental agencies. The work of the Center has been featured in the PBS Bill Moyer's documentary, Healing and the Mind (viewed by 40 million people), on NBC Dateline, ABC's Evening News, the Oprah Winfrey Show, in numerous magazine, newspaper, online articles, and in Widening the Circle: Mindfulness in the World, a film produced by the Center in celebration of its first 30 years. Each year the Center hosts an international scientific conference on mindfulness, Investigating and Integrating Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and the Larger Society. This year's 10th annual meeting included 500 clinicians and researchers from 21 countries and 6 continents engaged in understanding the science of mindfulness and its translation into treatments aimed at enhancing health across the life span.
