From the second century BC to the end of the fourteenth century AD, a great trade route originating from present-day Xian in the east and ending at the Mediterranean in the west linked China with the Roman Empire. This ancient route circulated goods and exchanged the splendid cultures along the way. Today, many years later, the old roads make way for fast and reliable infrastructure.
