violinvicky's video: Then poove poove - Anbulla ranjinikanth

@Then poove poove - Anbulla ranjinikanth
Minor(add9) chord, That unique sound adopted by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja as his own (See my earlier article: https://sites.google.com/site/violinvicky/9thchords) once again lends the backbone to this song.. Cm(add9) voicing in this song is further accentuated by the warm phaser sounds of Sada sir’s Guitar, Marathon key work by Viji Manuel on the preludes and sliding bass riffs of Sashidharan that seem to float around through out the song. With all these elements, the listener is effortlessly transported to a fantasy land. Unorthodox but beautiful Cello backing midway in stanza and the turnaround with the string ensemble presenting that D Major sound without much ado are testimonies to why Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is truly special. Yet another song where the accompaniment tracks do not end up serving the vocals but are treated as an equal, something you can only witness in a Ilaiyaraaja song. It was an immense challenge to play this live in one take but its also an honour to be attempting such rarely played songs of his. Dedicating this to all the friends who continuously supported me. Happy Friendship day!
