The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, unveiled in Berlin earlier this month have been launched in India. The Galaxy Gear smartwatch will work as an accessory to select Galaxy smartphones, with a small screen offering basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be priced at Rs 49,900 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is priced at Rs 22,990. To begin with, the Galaxy Note 3 looks sturdier and classier than ever. The leathery back with notebook like stitching on the edges makes it look impressive. Though, you might find it pretty similar to the very first Galaxy Note phablet from front but a closer look and you surely will be able to notice the thinner bezel on sides of the 5.7-inch display. The Galaxy Note 3 carries a 5.7-inch full-HD and Super AMOLED display offering 1920×1080 pixels resolution, which is a visual delight with very crisp yet smooth visuals. Also, once you will hold it and flip it around, you can see as well as feel the difference not only in terms of design but weight-wise as well. There is a volume rocker placed on one side and a power key on another. The back has a camera with flash followed by Samsung branding. You can easily remove the back of the phablet to place your SIM card inside. The Galaxy Note 3 comes with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and couple that with a number of software tweaks by Samsung along with several other Samsung patented features under the TouchWiz UI, and the Galaxy Note 3 is surely one of the interesting devices to play around with. Then there also is Samsung's enterprise and consumer security service named as the Knox mobile security feature to ensure safety of content on the device. There are features like multi-windows option which allows user to open multiple windows and run different functions on these simultaneously. For instance, while writing a mail one can simply open another window to drag and drop a picture from the phone gallery in to the previous window with your mailbox in that. This will simply attach the picture to the mail. With software, the phablet comes with a better hardware than its previous generation models and as expected houses a 1.9GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor with a massive 3GB of RAM. Besides that the phablet comes with 32GB of internal storage which can further be supplemented with a microSD card. Though in that short time, we found the phablet working smoothly without any glitches, but it will be too early for us to conclude anything on performance front on the basis of this. The Galaxy Note 3 houses a 3,200mAh battery, though the battery backup will be something to be left for our detailed review. The Galaxy Note 3 sports a 13-megapixel camera at the rear, which comes with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash. The camera can shoot videos at 1080p as well. On the performance bit, to our surprise it resulted in some good photos even in the low lighting conditions of the closed hall. Impressive, though much will be said once we test it for our detailed review. The front of the phablet has a 1.9-megapixel camera, which can also be used for video calling and with several other applications. As usual, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with the S-pen but this time with some improved features to enhance the user experience. There is a softpress key placed on the body of the pen which when pressed while tapping on the screen will show shortcut keys arranged in a semi-circular icon on the screen. One can simply hover on any of the options on and choose to use it further. It always seems fun to use the S-pen though there are not really a lot of takers for the feature.
