Hold your breath at the sheer beauty of the lands and the birds, as we travel across four continents for this breathtakingly beautiful documentary. We meet an eagle hunter, a hawk whisperer and a falcon racer, all purveyors of an ancient art that is disappearing as a way of life despite the passing down of traditions from generation to generation. Scotland, Mongolia, Dubai and Italy are the locations where these birds of prey lovers ply their skills. In Dubai, we meet Khalifa Bin Mirjen. A man so determined to keep winning competitive falcon races, he will manipulate the rules to give his bird a slight millisecond edge over its opponents. In Italy, a solitary man seems to use his interactions with recovering animals as an opportunity to heal himself. And in Scotland, Lauren McGough is determined to find a way to earn a living that would allow her to devote her time to the birds of prey she loves, especially helping injured birds to recover from man-made accidents. At first glance, none of these three people would seem to have much in common. But they are all devoted to carrying on the traditions of their forefathers, and working to establish that special relationship between man and bird. Don’t miss this one. It’s definitely the most stunningly photographed entry in this year’s WFF.
