Locals will know Spencer as an Olympic qualifying X-GAMES gold medalist, with some of the industry’s biggest sponsors backing her. However, hidden from public view is the debilitating pain she suffers due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and the sacrifices she made to recover. Spencer’s story of defeat leads her to reconnect with her Indigenous culture when she returns to her hometown in the traditional territory of Kwakwaka'wakw to recover. With the guidance of her family and close-knit community, she discovers a newfound strength to reenter the sport and defy all odds. This is the intimate tale of perseverance, determination, and personal reawakening as Spencer learns how her roots will provide her with more strength than anything.
