The Midland Ry in Baldwin City, KS had their railroad festival over the Labor day weekend. Both NYC RS-3 # 8255 and MKT RS-3M turned 60 this year (the 2 engines were built within a few numbers of each other), and the KCS RPO turned 80. Activities were a Railroadiana show (on Sunday only), motorcar rides, and cab rides in the 8255, plus 3 excursions: 2 to Norwood with the 142, and a 3rd to Ottawa with both Alcos pulling, including photo runbys. I got lots of time in the 8255, and rode the Ottawa train. Riding in Santa Fe Ce-1 class caboose on the way down, and in 8255 on the way back. I did have my tripod with me, but there wasn't room in the locomotive cab to use it so I only used it on the photo runbys. The horn was loud enough to trip the wind buffer on my camcorder, so the horn sounds funny most of the time (I didn't know it until I first uploaded the video to my computer).
