xShelly's video: May I Happy B-Day Daddy

Okay this is my first time trying out a scheduled upload,,, If all goes well this SHOULD upload at exactly 1:00 A.M. on November 15th in my time, because as you can clearly see from the title it's my Dad's birthday today! He was born in New York at 4:05 A.M. so I had to account for the time difference, but I wanted to upload it as close to when he was born as possible so hopefully the scheduled upload actually worked,, Honestly it feels weird writing this right now because today is the 5th so I'm like 10 days ahead of schedule... So HELLO FUTURE PEOPLE! This isn't the first time I've made an edit for my Dad, but it IS the first time I've made one specifically for his birthday!! It's not super amazing or anything like that, I certainly could have done a lot better of course but honestly I just wanted to make something that could get my emotions across... I think I definitely managed to fulfill that though, so I'm happy with it anyway! And I'm sure my Dad would have loved anything I made anyway... He always did. ♥ Of course I HAD to use Shelter because so much of what Rin did with her dad gave me vivid memories of my childhood as well. Rin's dad pushing her on the swings and playing in the sandbox with her? When I was little, my Dad used to bring me to the park every weekend and he would play with me. He'd also push me on the swings, play in the sandbox with me, hold me up to reach the monkey bars, and kneel down to catch me when I reached the bottom of the slide. And afterward, we'd go to the donut store nearby and share a raspberry jelly donut together!! Rin's dad watching over her while she slept? My Dad also did that. Every time I took naps, when I woke up he'd always be right next to me, and sometimes I'd wake up to him stroking my hair. That's one of the reasons I love when people touch/play with my hair so much now. Rin's dad gifting her a stuffed animal? My Dad played one of those carnival games over and over again at Knott's Berry Farm until he won me a HUGE Snoopy plush! They had smaller ones, but he insisted that he'd keep trying until he got the biggest one because that's the one he knew I wanted the most, even though I never said it out loud. Because I was so little the plush was legit bigger than I was,, I remember I used to even sleep on top of it. Rin's dad combing her hair? My Dad used to also comb my hair every morning before he'd bring me to school, and he'd always be so gentle.. Honestly it amazed me that he could be so gentle, because I have wavy/curly hair that gets tangled SO easily. Nowadays I legit have to yank my hairbrush sometimes to get all the tangles out, but my Dad never did that. I wish I knew what his secret was... But most of all, Rin's dad sacrificing everything to ensure his daughter's happiness because he just loved her that much? My Dad ALWAYS did that. I remember that on his birthdays every year, he always asked ME where I wanted to eat and what I wanted to do, even though it was HIS birthday. He'd always say things like my favorite color is his favorite color, my favorite food is his favorite food, my favorite cartoon was his favorite cartoon. That's just the kind of person he was. My happiness always came before everything. Even when he started getting sick, even when he was in so much pain, he'd always smile for me. Even when his body got weaker and weaker, he still managed to give me some of the tightest and the best hugs I've ever gotten in my entire life. I miss those hugs so much. Nobody's arms have ever felt so safe and warm, so much like home. So to the man who loved me more than anything else in the entire world... This is for you, Daddy. This is for you, because like this song says in the bridge, "your love is changing me". It has already changed me, and it continues to change me, even six years after you've been gone. I strive to be a better person every single day, to be like you. Your kindness, your big heart, your compassion and understanding.. All of those qualities that I loved the most about you, I've learned now thanks to you. I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for your love and guidance. I still struggle to be the best version of myself because more than anything, I want to make you proud. I know you've always been proud of me, but I want to earn that praise and affection you had always given to me. I hope that you're watching me somehow, I hope that one day we can meet again so that I can show you how much I've grown and so that I can finally have one of your amazing hugs again. I love you so much Daddy. I always have, and I always will. Happy birthday. ♥ ...I don't even know if anyone bothered to read this far down past my literal essay,, WHOOPS!! But if you did, thank you so much, really. I didn't mean to ramble so long but,, YOU KNOW ME... I never shut up!! Especially not about the people I love... I hope that one day, everyone can find love (romantic, platonic, familial, etc.) that fills their hearts the way my Dad did with mine. ♥
