... in a one horse open sleigh!! Here's what we did on Saturday! Was brilliant fun, Polly was a saint!! *DISCLAIMER: please do not attempt this unless you think your horse will cope with it. This was the first time I'd done this with Polly so we spent a good 5-10 minutes letting her get used to the ropes and the sled before I got on her and someone got in the sled, and then spent another 5-10 minutes just at walk and slow trot making sure she was comfortable; as you can see she was a little unsure initially but soon settled. The sound of the sled on the snow is quite loud and can be a bit freaky to horses, especially as the sound is following them, so be aware of this if this is something you want to try. Be safe!! I repurposed my pessoa-style lunging aid, which was looped through the girth straps and breast girth on both sides of the saddle. Polly is wearing both a breastplate to keep the saddle in place and a breast girth to help distribute the puling pressure across her chest. Instagram: jenny_mettam Jenny, Jed and Polly :) x
