@Will Greenwood: Letting different personalities breathe within an organisation
There wasn't necessarily in, in the seventies and eighties this chain of thought that is moving through education about allowing people and giving the people to understand how to learn. I've come from a sort of Victorian lifestyle in Northern England, where its repetition, repetition, its understanding the system get the system I liked ' black and white'. So, the beauty of working in a rugby team then is the different styles of people you need so, there is no 'one size fits all'. The psychologist we brought in, the vision coach we brought in, the kicking coach we brought in, would work with different players to different levels. And it's the same in any organisation. The last thing I want to do is go into any organisation and tell them; this is the way you have to be. To understand that ability of bringing different lifestyles together, different demographics from parts of the country together. And different upbringings together, different schooling systems. Different chains of thought, different ways of thinking about a problem. Which hugely critical to England’s success, and it's hugely critical to any organisation success. Any dictatorial monologue that takes place within an organisation I believe is doomed to failure. That ability to understand the power of the simple thought, there is no dumb idea within your war room, within your company. Have that ability to have a clear line of communication. Not just horizontally, but vertically. Allow people whether they've been in the business for one day, or been there for twenty- five years. To have an ability to have an input um, it, it is crucial and um, I come at it from my perspective, from a certain style. But I was very different to a Johnny Wilkinson, to a Mike Catt, who are all trying to achieve the same goal. And it took us five years to allow each other to breath within our organisation. Within our team, and I think coming at it from that point of view allowing different styles of thought, and brain power, to attack a similar problem is crucial to success.
