Here is Jon's method for opening a young coconut. These coconuts differ from those that most folks are used to in that they have a white husk that is cut flat on the bottom and cone shaped on top. They usually contain 12 -16 ounces of juice, and the meat is thinner and much more tender than the brown coconuts. Once you have tried these, the only reason you might want to buy a brown coconut is because the meat on the brown ones is better for making shredded coconut for toppings and such. Enjoy!
