Four Loko - a cult & inexpensive malt liquor based alcoholic energy drink, sold by Phusion Projects of Chicago - whose original ingredients: caffeine, taurine and guarana, masked it's 12 % alcohol content. The drink came under major fire from the FDA in 2010, as colleges and universities across the United States began to see injuries and blackouts related to the drink's use. In 2011, Pasadena rapper XL Middleton joined forces with rising L.A. born 'new oldies' star Reality Jonez, in a soulful Isley Brothers parody to the infamous drink. In May 2015, the New York Times report that 28% of American adults drink at levels that put them at risk of alcohol dependence and alcohol-related problems.
