Vlora Albania Влёра Албания Vlora is a harbor city. It sits on a bay that marks the meeting of the Adriatic and the Ionian seas. It is situated some 120 km south from Durrës and Tirana and can be easily reached by train or bus from those cities. There are three areas you might visit in Vlora - the beaches, the port, and the town center. The town center is inland, about 2 km north of the port. The main sights in Vlorë are the main plaza called Flag’s Square, the massive Independence Monument and the Muradie Mosque. The beaches stretch several km to the south/east of the port, and there are numerous hotels apartments and restaurants in this stretch, though the town beach and the sea here are rather dirty. The waterfront project has brought a brand new, wide beach boulevard with three lined walkaways, planted palms, playing fields and sitting areas. Along the boulevard rises long line of shiny new apartment buildings and hotels with commercial space on the street level. The amount of restaurants, cafes and pubs is astonishing. Most Albanians from Tirana, Kosovo and the surrounding areas come here to spend their holidays, so Vlora has a great reputation for nightclubs. It’s a great place to spend the night out having fun. The coast has plenty of great nightclubs, discotheques and cafés. Accommodation on offer ranges from luxurious to basic with a good choice of hotels in between. Also available are private apartments and homes for longer stays. Vlora area cuisine is typical of coastal and mountainous areas. The products are taken from dairy animals which are raised in the mountains by the sea. Vlora's sea products are some of the best in Albania. Relaxing tourist beaches with clear waters are just a handful of kilometers away, and if you follow the coastal road south there’s a string of charming little resorts punctuated by the vast mountains capes of the Llogora National Park. Just outside the city of Vlora, the Radhime district is located where many of locals choose to spend their annual vacations. It is famous for its calm waters, organized resorts, and overall relaxing atmosphere.
