The title of the song means "ultramarine", the color of the ocean. The deep blue sea still remembers the stupidity and weakness of human being of the 20th century, which is known as "the era of war". In the song, a soldier on the beach wails in sorrow. His friend died in the battle and he is fatally injured. He watches the snow falling on the sea and talks to the dead ally. During the World War II, Japan experienced the most miserable time in its history. Due to the indiscreet decision of some high officials of the navy, Japan concluded a military treaty with Germany and Italy without knowing that it would be the beginning of the tragedy. America initiated the isolation of Japan with other countries. An oil embargo was imposed on Japan. With the drained fuels, Japan was cornered. Japanese government foresaw, "As long as the situation is the same, most of Asia will soon be colonized by the Great Powers of western countries." This is how Japan's nasty attack to Pearl Harbor took place. There seemed to be no other alternatives at that time. At first, Japan was superior to America in the war. However, America reversed the situation after the battle at Midway, keeping in pace till the end of the war. Japan lost many battleships and aircraft carriers. Japan should have surrendered but still pursued the war. Brave soldiers never gave up and fought. They went to the battlefield just to lose their lives. In the last stage, even teenagers were sent to the severe battle and died. What did they want to defend at the risk of their lives? With what kind of feeling did they sink into the sea? I don't mean to justify war. War is the biggest sin of mankind. However, I sang this song to express my deepest sympathy to all the victims of the war who had to die for their countries.
