Alexa Lexie's video: kylo ren a rabid cur

@kylo ren || a rabid cur.
I feel that my edits have been lacking, like I’ve been regurgitating one edit after the other that they blend together and that nothing really sets them apart from one another. Or that I have been making too many of them that I kind of ran out of things to focus on. But there's the point of Ben being manipulated, a point that I haven’t really touched at all yet. I’ve been searching endlessly for songs that could spark some inspiration, but I haven’t had much luck. I usually stray away from any of Agnes Obel’s music. As much as I absolutely adore her music, they are usually copyrighted and blocked worldwide. But this song I couldn’t really stray away from. I thought that this song fit well for Kylo. It’s a beautiful song, but something about it seems off. You expect the pianist to hit one note but it plays another, sometimes sounding like wrong notes. But it comes off like it’s made to be played that way. It still sounds beautiful, but it’s jaded, twisted. Like Kylo. I had realized that Ben was manipulating Han in the scene from TFA, the same way he was manipulated, as if he’s begun to learn the tricks that were used on him. It was as if taking off his mask was to lure. Ben’s broken because he’s been manipulated, and I feel like the movies didn’t really highlight this that much. Surprisingly, the comics do, but the movies don’t, which irks me a bit. Because the movies don’t really highlight this themselves, I tried to find ways to do it myself, showing the ways snoke and palpatine manipulated his weaknesses for his family and Rey and how they’ve used it against him. There’s especially a way they talk about him, like he’s a weapon that they molded and designed. And they take pride in it. But something always seems wrong with Ben, because this isn’t who he really is. Who he’s trying to force himself to be, its unnatural. When he tries to give in to that light that he feels, they pull him back. When Palpatine says “my boy,” it’s like treating him like he’s insignificant, unaware of reality like a child. Like falling back to the light is some naiveness. Even though Snoke is referring to Hux when he calls him a “rabid cur,” he’s actually referring to Kylo. There’s something twisted about it. Like he’s proud that Kylo is like a “rabid cur," but there’s something in his voice that sounds like he scolds or mocks it. He says it in such a snide way, but offers it like it’s a compliment. It’s contradicting, twisted. I also constricted the use of any quotes said by Ben, because he’s voiceless, he doesn’t have much a say in all of this. Oh and I didn't know, but the definition of cur is an aggressive dog or one that is in poor condition. It’s like they’ve driven him to insanity, the rabid cur they've wanted. In the beginning of editing this, I had planned to name the edit "the lost skywalker," but that was kind of before it morphed into this :) // Idk I hope that what I’ve written for this can also be conveyed in my edit, hope it does some justice. I hope you guys enjoy! Stay safe and healthy guys!! :DD Song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpvhRI79S98 tumblr - @lexalexie twitter - @alexalexie7 insta - @alexa.lexie.editss :))
