Burnet Institute's video: The devastating impact of maternal mortality in Papua New Guinea

@The devastating impact of maternal mortality in Papua New Guinea
Burnet Institute Co-Program Director, Maternal and Child Health, Professor Caroline Homer AO, tells a personal recount of the devastating impact of maternal mortality in Papua New Guinea. Mothers in PNG have a 1 in 20 chance of dying during pregnancy and childbirth, and over 5000 babies die each year within their first few weeks of life. Burnet's Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies program aims to understand the causes of these devastating statistics and work out the most effective life-saving interventions. Burnet Institute is an Australian, unaligned, not-for-profit, independent organisation that links medical research with practical action to help solve devastating health problems. This sets us apart from other organisations. Find out more at https://burnet.edu.au/
