We’re leading the way when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint! ♻️🌎 In this latest example, we’re piloting an innovative carbon removal technology with @CarbonCure through our recent sidewalk project at our @DurhamBulls Athletic Park. Find out more on . Transcript: Durham is leading the way once again when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint and working toward our ambitious climate goals. In this latest example, our General Services team partnered with Thomas Concrete, Carbon Cure, and Skanska to pilot innovative carbon removal technology. The Carbon Cure concrete used in our recent sidewalk project at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park is just as durable and strong, and costs about the same as ordinary concrete but with a lower carbon footprint. That’s because Carbon Cure captures carbon emissions from industrial uses before those emissions are released into the atmosphere. This CO2 is then mixed into concrete where it mineralizes, trapping it in the sidewalk forever. We are one of the first cities in North Carolina to use it. If the new sidewalk performs as well as it has in other locations throughout the country, we’ll use it for more projects.
