When the Coronavirus started to genuinely become a life changing event, my job sent me to work from home before Michigan initiated a stay-at-home order. Originally, I wanted to write a fun, cute song about being stuck at home. Then, friends started dying. Having lived in NYC, now in Detroit, both cities have lost so many, and it's nothing to laugh about or minimize. I scrapped the "cutesy" song, and instead wrote from the heart about going through bouts of anxiety and depression, feeling as though every small part of day-to-day life was a massive undertaking, losing friends without being able to hold funeral services, and the need for empathy and understanding everyone should be giving and receiving during this time.
