@KONE Elevators, 3rd Floor Urbex & INCREDIBLE Vintage Otis Elevator Discoveries! - St. Petersburg, FL
Videos taken on March 28th, 2023 with ‎@AirplaneElevatorfan8150  and July 28th, 2023 with ‎@ElevatorMan227 , ‎@AdazElevatorz  & ‎@ElevatorCaptainZane. DISCLAIMER: Due to Security at this building and me not wanting this video to show up on Google Search Results for this building, I am keeping the name out of the title even though the name is shown inside both the Certificates of the elevators as well as the Touchscreen for the KONEs. If you leak the address of this building in the Description, your comments WILL be removed! No exceptions! Welcome to St. Petersburg's LARGEST Office Building by Square Footage! Once the St. Pete Headquarters for the Tampa Bay Times, this MASSIVE and VERY UNIQUE Building which is made up of a total of THREE Buildings has a lot of interesting things to see inside! The Main Elevators which are located in the Newest Wing of the Building have been pretty heavily modernized & updated, originally Installed in 1988 by Montgomery, they were completely modernized recently by KONE with MAD Touch 2 Go on the Passenger Elevators, and a Canadian style MAD BS Moon COP on the Service Elevator. The elevators are pretty nice and are pretty fast & smooth, but let's be real, considering how many elevators like this exist in Florida, that really isn't too exciting, isn't it? I would agree that it isn't too exciting, HOWEVER, as I already stated, this building is COMPRISED of THREE Buildings TOTAL, so OBVIOUSLY there are more elevators here! And get this, the 1988 Wing is the NEWEST Section of the building, the Original Wing was built in 1924, with another section added in 1968! And 2 years ago, in March of 2021, was when I first discovered this building! After riding the Otis Lexans at Sage for the first time, I walked by this place and peaked through the window leading to the elevators in the Historic Wing, and noticed that they were Vintage Otises! I couldn't tell what they were exactly, but I saw the OG Indicators! That door was locked however, so I then proceeded to the Main Entrance. Unfortunately I was kicked out in the process, but I didn't give up! Fast forward to December of 2022, when I was in town with William, I stopped by this building again. I went inside the building, got off the KONEs on 3, and NEEDLESS to say, I got an up close look at the Historic Wing's elevators and as it turns out, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, They're ORIGINAL Otis Square Touch! Sadly, they were turned off, and when I visited this time around, I also found a Huge Otis Lexan. Same deal though, it was turned off. I didn't film the elevators here at the time as I wasn't too excited by the KONEs, but I then came back here with Riley in March of 2023 and decided to film the elevators here and also show him the defunct Old Otises.....this is where things take a MASSIVE turn. The Otis Lexan call stations on the 1 elevator were LIT UP and when I pushed one of them, the buttons lit, but the elevator wouldn't come! I'm not sure what the reasoning for this is, I assume the elevator was on Independent Service on another floor, but we didn't get to ride it. Now, here's where things really get interesting.... last month, I visited this building AGAIN, this time with William, Zane and Adam, and what do you know?? The LEXAN IS WORKING!!!! I was TOTALLY NOT EXPECTING IT and I thought that that elevator was dead forever when I first found it, but as it turns out, not so much!!! The elevator is also MASSIVE with a Retro Green Cab, a Unique Rear Freight Doors, and a Unique Lexan COP with MANUAL Up and Down Buttons! This thing also has INSANE Classic Leveling, and so far, out of the few Otis Lexan Elevators that we've found in St. Pete, this one is EASILY my favorite to date!!! But THAT'S NOT ALL, this revisit, we also found a BANK of 2 Otis CIRCLE TOUCH Elevators in the 1968 Wing of the building, AND when we HIT the call stations, THEY LIT UP!!! Unfortunately, an elevator never came, much to my disappointment, and when we checked for them on the other floors, signs were posted saying the elevators were out of service. But given the fact the Buttons LIT UP and that the Lexan was in the EXACT SAME Condition JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO and IT WORKS NOW, It gives me JUST A LITTLE HOPE that Otis Touch & Vintage Otis Tractions in Big Buildings as a whole AREN'T EXTINCT IN FLORIDA AFTER ALL! I plan on coming back to this building and checking up on these elevators from time to time going forward, HOPEFULLY AT LEAST ONE of the Otis Touches will be working next time I make it here, and I also plan on getting another take of the Lexan as I'm painfully aware my footage here isn't the greatest as we were all quite nervous about getting busted here! With that all being said though, I REALLY hope you guys enjoy the video, complete with an Explorating of the 3rd floor, and HOPEFULLY next time I come here, the other Vintage Elevators here will be working! If they are, THIS WILL LITERALLY be the GREATEST Find in Florida to date!
