At the Fragrant Candle Group in Dech Udom district, Ubon Ratchathani province, residents sculpt and carve from candles the image of Ganesha in the blessing-giver version, with a 5-metre-high representation. This impressive creation will be on display from August 1 to 7 during this year's Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival. Ubon Ratchathani hosts the Candle Festival, one of the biggest festivals in the province. There are huge and elaborately carved candles paraded throughout the city on Khao Phansa Day. This year, the Khao Phansa begins on August 2.
