(Naruto/ Naruto Shippuden) The Naruto franchise has always revolved around its character's desire to leave a magnificent legacy and become a great ninja, most notably through his ultimate aim of becoming Hokage. The Hokage is the principal political leader in Konohagakure, with all of the power and responsibilities that position involves. There have been seven formal Hokage referenced in Konoha's history throughout the anime and manga series, as well as its continuation Boruto, as well as one famous Hokage contender with a brief reign of power. Three of these Hokages passed before the series began, but they all had a significant impact on Naruto's tale and characters, as well as being formidable ninjas in their own right.
