Hyderabad are coming into this game and they are peaking at the right time to say the least. They have won four consecutive games in a row and they are surely on a roll. All eyes will again be on Kane Williamson. The stylish right-hander can maintain his icy cool demeanour under tremendous pressure. In a tight chase against Bangalore, the Kiwi maintained restraint and pounced onto the bowlers only when necessary. In a tight and tense chase Williamson can be the x-factor for Hyderabad. Windies all-rounder Jason Holder has walked into the team and made an instant impact. He continues to be among the wickets, add his batting skills to Hyderabad repertoire and you get a formidable side. Don’t forget Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan. Khan has so far accounted for 19 wickets this season. Skipper David Warner can be the dangerman that Delhi must be wary off. If Warner is not dismissed early, he can be the bane for Shreyas Iyer and his men. Meanwhile Delhi would hope that their strike bowlers: Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje don’t have a bad day. In qualifier 1 against Mumbai, Nortje and Rabada went for runs and as a result Delhi ended up conceding 200 runs. That was a rare failure but if this happens tonight it will be fatal. Top-order is expected to be led by Shikhar Dhawan who has back-to-back centuries this season. With Prithvi Shaw horribly out of form, skipper Shreyas Iyer has to be rock and lead from the front. Three seasons ago, the Delhi camp was deemed as a nursery for Indian cricket. It had a host of uncapped players touted to lead the next generation of Indian cricket. Fearless, confident, in-your-face and eager to make the grade, the Delhi franchise shed their scratchy history and showcased a breathtaking brand of cricket over the last two seasons. Marcus Stoinis, the only Delhi batsman besides Shikhar Dhawan to have lived up to their brand of cricket, candidly put things into perspective: “A long tournament will have these ebbs and flows. But at the start of the tournament, if somebody said we would finish second in the table and be a match away from the final, we would have taken it.” The other team, Bangalore, paid the price on Friday when this resurgent Hyderabad bunch knocked them out. Delhi have raved about their young talent like Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and captain Shreyas Iyer for too long now. They face a team which has been one of the most consistent ones over the last four years. And that team is building a wall with four ambassadors of the sport who have been at the top of their game —David Warner, Kane Williamson, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan — as their pillars. Suddenly, the carefree demeanour is missing in the Delhi camp. Perhaps for the first time in their careers, the likes of Shaw, Pant and Iyer are battling the weight of expectations. They are past the phase when every little quality would be highlighted. The rest of the Hyderabad team also has young, aspiring Indian talent—be it a Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Sandeep Sharma or a T Natarajan. But they have the four pillars to hold them up when their ship hits choppy waters. On the contrary, Capitals now have a batting line-up that has four Indian batsmen — Shaw, Iyer, Rahane and Pant — unsure about their future in India colours. Shikhar Dhawan has been tasked to shepherd this young bunch all by himself. For Hyderabad, Warner looks firmly in control behind the wheel, unlike Iyer. If at all Delhi hope to make history over the next four days, their batsmen have to rediscover their brand of fearless and carefree cricket to go all the way Teams: Delhi Squad: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Daniel Sams, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Shimron Hetmyer, Harshal Patel, Mohit Sharma, Alex Carey, Tushar Deshpande, Avesh Khan, Praveen Dubey, Sandeep Lamichhane, Keemo Paul, Lalit Yadav Hyderabad Squad: David Warner(c), Shreevats Goswami(w), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Abhishek Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, Jonny Bairstow, Vijay Shankar, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammad Nabi, Bavanaka Sandeep, Billy Stanlake, Fabian Allen, Virat Singh, Basil Thampi, Sanjay Yadav, Prithvi Raj Yarra
