Mountain Fiddler, Roger Howell’s beautiful ballads can be heard all along Banjo Road outside the close knit community of Mars Hill. The fact he’s recognized by his peers as a master musician is only half the story. As a child, the art of traditional mountain music was passed down to him when playing music on the porches and in living rooms of musicians who came before. This is when he developed a lifelong passion for music preservation. Now, by recording these tunes and sharing them with future generations, his hope is to make sure this part of our heritage is never lost.
