SOUNZ Centre for NZ Music's video: MARCUS JACKSON: porcelain expanding

@MARCUS JACKSON: porcelain; expanding
MARCUS JACKSON: porcelain; expanding Marcus Jackson’s contribution to the Dylan Lardelli-curated collection of new works for Japanese musicians is ‘porcelain; expanding’. Recorder player Tosiya Suzuki is asked to play two recorders simultaneously. Marcus writes: “The aesthetic should be minimal throughout. Each movement should be as economical and considered as possible. The sound-world sought throughout should be fragile, vulnerable, and pale. The performer’s energy should be relaxed as much as is practicable. The work should not come across as dark, but rather innocent and considered.” Supported by the New Zealand Japan Exchange Programme, with film editing funded by NZ On Air.
