I don't expect everyone to agree with the content, but it's important to listen to the words carefully because, despite the homophobia/misogyny in gangsta rap, the music says something that a lot of people in America feel: that we treat young black males poorly and do not afford them much of an opportunity. (The main riff is from Parliament, "Sir Nose D'voidoffunk-Parliament.") Gangsta rap takes all the stereotypes, such as the belief that young black males are criminals, sexual animals, violent, and whatever other nonsense people seem to believe and they jam it right back in everyone's face. They are not celebrating it! ("...The shit that I'm writing hypes me, hypes other mother fuckers around me...") They are trying to expose problems! This song explains what it is like to live life within what many perceive as a white supremacist American society in which blacks are left behind. Listen carefully to what they say, and even if you don't agree with it, you might understand a different perspective. Why do I call myself a nigga, you ask me?
