Zipplet Tech's video: Review: APC ProtectNet Gigabit Ethernet Surge Protector

@Review: APC ProtectNet Gigabit Ethernet Surge Protector
This is my review of the APC ProtectNet by Schneider Electric. This is a gigabit Ethernet surge protector. I explain what the unit does, why you might need it and how to install it correctly. If you use a UPS to protect your equipment from electrical problems, you also need to protect your incoming Internet feed otherwise a surge can come in via that and blow up your protected hardware! If your ISP connection comes in via an Ethernet line rather than DSL or coax and you are lucky enough to have gigabit ethernet, you may need this as most UPS's do not support gigabit speeds via the built in protection. If you have a quality UPS like mine and you do NOT have gigabit Internet, check if the built in data protection function on your UPS works for you instead. It should be equally as good (at least on APC branded units). For information: In Japan, every apartment that I have ever seen with fibre Internet has an Ethernet feed like mine, rather than an optical feed.
