I wish I could say it's the good kind of 'life-ruining' because, actually, it's making my Sunday nights VERY painful and sometimes - like last Sunday - I literally end up crying myself to sleep after watching the episode so yeah: it's SO not good for my fragile emotional state BUT the cast (John Simm, Maxine Peake, Juliet Stevenson, NICO - omg Nico, this must be his best performance E V E R - and Charlie - hdgfgsgfsga I love her truly - and everyone else), the writing and the cinematography are S T U N N I N G and realistic and just... ugh, SO GOOD. I couldn't stop watching it even if I wanted to. -- HA. THESE TWO. OTP SINCE THEY FIRST LANDED THEIR EYES ON EACH OTHER, NGL. I remember I was watching the pilot and I saw her approaching him and asking "Are you going to shoot'em?" and he turned around to look at her and he smiled and she smiled back and all I could see was jsdhfdhgsgdah undeniable chemistry and SO MUCH LOVE I couldn't handle it and I knew I was doomed, from the start. The pilot and their cute looks kinda deceived me because I was like 'omg such a cute ship, babies letmehugyouforever' but NO. They're so much more than that and with the evolution of Joe's character (and with how WW1 affected him) you can see why. To quote Nico, "he's just not the same person you saw in the first episode". And then, there she is. She felt something changed into him and she wanted to 'save' him, she wanted to help him and the people he loves through what she believes in and, no matter if you have faith or not, no matter if you agree with Bairstow and think she's - after all - only "in love with herself", you can't deny she loves him, a lot. (gotta say, about 1x05: one of the most heartfelt love scenes I've ever watched in my life... dear otp, what you didn't say with words, you showed it. period). -- about the vid, well, I started this right after 1x03 aired because I had so many feelings about everything (I must say, I adore George Allingham and seeing him being rejected by Martha non stop was kinda heartbreaking but heck, otp comes first) and I sort of wanted to wait for the last episode to air before finishing it but last night it just sort of happened, I couldn't help it (and we have closure, after all... even if it's painful and I cannot deal with it now and not even in the video and I just couldn't risk this Sunday's episode to ruin everything - I look forward to watch it regardless). I'm also so damn happy I got to finally vid this song, which has always been one of my dream songs to edit and definitely one of my absolute favourites by SP. It's been exhausting and nerve-wrecking at times because I really struggled to get into the mood of it and to put it into images at my best but it was exactly what I needed to help me telling their story because honestly, "what if the storm ends and I don't see you as you are now EVER AGAIN", how do you perfection, song? (I hate myself for cutting it but hello, they don't have that many scenes to fill a 5 minutes long song - roughly 5 episodes ugh) -- dedicated to two very special ladies, Jacqueline & Mette, because they're the only ones who ship these two as much as I do (or at all, I must say, since Martha is not exactly a fandom favourite - lol idgaf, say what you wanna say, I adore her). Thank you, for holding my hand while livewatching this in the past five weeks, I could never have done it without you (AND I KNOW YOU HATE ME FOR THIS VIDEO, JACQUELINE, BUT ILY). -- as usual, I own absolutely nothing (even though I wish I'd own a Nico lookalike or - at least - a free train ticket to Bolzano) except my editing & THE FEELS.
